In addition to the unit itself as pictured, you will need an antenna assembly and the satellite receiver box.  Both readily available from several service providers.  Some are listed below.  And most offer the equipment you will need free of charge with new accounts.  The least expensive TV programming option is about $30 per month for about 60 channels.

The tools and installation materials are listed in the installation page of this web site.

Satellite Magnet provides a geo stable mast onto which a conventional satellite dish antenna assembly is placed.  The mast on the top of the unit turns to keep the horizontal orientation of the antenna locked onto the satellite signal.  Gentle rolling of the boat does not disturb the antenna's lock on the signal long enough to disrupt the TV picture.

The incredible cost savings over other satellite antenna tracking systems which sell for $2,000 to $6,000, is in the fact that Satellite Magnet has to be calibrated manually one time before the first use. Just follow the 3 step procedure

The unit uses only 0.5 amps at 12 Volts and is rated for continuous duty.  Many users power the unit with a 12 volt transformer (available, just ask when ordering.)  The transformer is plugged into the 110 power strip which powers the satellite receiver box, either by inverter or generator or shore power.  This way when ever the power for TV is on the Satellite Magnet is on and locating the satellite also.

The increase of power use due to the transformer inefficiency is minimal.  However, some people prefer to keep power consumption as low as possible, by simply powering the unit from the 12V fuse box through a switch to turn the unit on and off manually.
